WANTED: Enthusiastic Contributors For A Potential New Forum

Last updated: 29 March 2020
By Maynard Paton

I am contemplating (again*) whether to launch a proper investment forum on a new website.

If enough enthusiastic contributors express an interest, I will set something up.

I expect to make my forum very different to the likes of ADVFN, Twitter, Lemonfool and Stockopedia.

Right now all the great investment discussions on those other platforms are getting lost in a sea of general chatter.

And seeing great posts being ignored or overlooked is a real shame — especially when the current Covid-19 crisis is creating so much financial uncertainty.

As such, I have become determined to celebrate the very best share ideas, analysis and insights from the private-investor community.

I am sure if I make the forum:

  • Private: Invitation-only areas to eradicate trolls and disruption;
  • Focused: Limit discussions to investment topics only, and;
  • Free: No obligation to pay, although optional donations are welcome :-)

…then the website can become a natural home to smart and sensible investors who wish to share their research online.

I am looking for a handful of enthusiastic contributors to kick things off — people who can initiate something reasonably substantive and sensible on a particular company or portfolio etc, to get a high-quality discussion going. At this stage I am not looking for lurkers.

So: if you feel your investment posts elsewhere have become undervalued, just get in touch using my Contact form with the subject ‘Forum’.

Together we could build a community that actually rewards the very best private-investor discussions during these difficult times.
